Analytical Researches



One of the functions of the Otandastar Foundation is to conduct analytical research. Currently, field research has been carried out on pertinent subjects, and recommendations have been formulated for the respective government agencies.

  • Here is a summary of several analytical studies:
  • Study on the primary activities of kazakhs abroad
  • Countries Examined: Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Turkey.
  • Result: The study comprises more than 320 pages and encompasses an analysis of the predominant trends in the enrollment of ethnic Kazakhs in colleges and higher education institutions abroad, as well as their primary areas of employment. The report presents 69 proposals and recommendations.

  • Exploration of the historical settlement of kazakhs in bordering territories of Kazakhstan
  • Countries Investigated: Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan.
  • Result: The study spans approximately 290 pages and includes an analysis of the historical facets of Kazakh settlement abroad, covering autochthons and diasporas. It also examines administrative-territorial entities in the present day. This study presents 23 proposals and recommendations.

  • Scientific research on the cultural heritage of kazakhs in Uzbekistan
    In 2022, Dr. PhD Ardabi Maulet visited Kazakh-populated settlements in the Uchkuduk and Tamdy districts of the Navoi Region, Uzbekistan, with the aim of collecting and studying the cultural and spiritual heritage of Kazakhs. The research expedition continued in 2023, during which samples of folklore, musical motifs, and songs of ethnic Kazakhs were recorded.
    Result: As part of this work, 116 particularly valuable materials, including musical compositions and oral literature samples, have been documented and preserved in video, audio, and photographic formats
     

  • Challenges in the economic development of northern regions of Kazakhstan in connection with emigration and repatriation
    Result: The study encompasses over 450 pages and includes an examination of the distinct characteristics of migration and repatriation processes in the northern regions of Kazakhstan. It also delves into the sectoral employment structure of the population, including repatriates. The study quantifies the state's expenditure in attracting a single repatriate and identifies potential long-term effects resulting from their migration. In total, the report presents 37 proposals and recommendations.
     

  • New kazakh diasporas and former compatriots (2023)
    Countries Studied: Russia, Germany, Poland, Türkiye, the United States.
    Result:The final analytical report comprises 160 pages. It identifies the socio-demographic characteristics, stages of migration, migration strategies, cultural awareness, and attitudes toward Kazakhstan among the new Kazakh diasporas and former compatriots worldwide. Based on the research findings, 15 proposals and practical recommendations have been developed.
     

  • Study of international experience and best practices in engaging overseas compatriots with advanced and relevant skills and qualifications in the development of their countries (2024)
    Countries Studied: European countries (Poland, Armenia, Ireland, Lithuania), Israel, India, China, Türkiye.
    Result: The analytical report focused on examining the legislative and institutional frameworks of diaspora policies in selected countries and developing proposals and recommendations based on international experience and effective mechanisms for enhancing Kazakhstan's engagement with its overseas diasporas. As a result of the study, approximately 50 proposals and recommendations were submitted to the relevant government bodies.

  • Study on mechanisms for promoting Kazakhstan’s development through the involvement of successful compatriots abroad (2024)
    Country Studied: Federal Republic of Germany.

    Result: The analytical report focused on examining the achievements and advanced competencies of compatriots (ethnic Kazakhs, former compatriots — ethnic Germans and Kazakhstanis) residing in Germany and their potential role in Kazakhstan’s development mechanisms. As a result of the study, reference information on 11 compatriots abroad and their projects was compiled to facilitate their engagement in various sectors of the national economy.
