The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is expected to initiate negotiations on this matter within three months, according to the Kazinform news agency, citing a presidential decree of Uzbekistan.
Additionally, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the relevant authorities to take measures to ease visa requirements for Uzbek citizens entering the United States. According to the presidential decree titled "On Measures to Significantly Increase the Inflow of Tourists and Rapidly Expand the Volume of Tourism Services in 2025–2026, as well as to Enhance the Role and Importance of Tourism in the Economy", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tasked with submitting a proposal within three months to initiate and complete negotiations on the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for U.S. citizens traveling to Uzbekistan, as well as on facilitating visa procedures for Uzbek citizens traveling to the United States.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan plans to introduce an entry regime based on internal identification documents or ID cards—including a "kinder passport" for citizens under the age of 16—for nationals of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, allowing them to stay in Uzbekistan for up to 30 days.
It was previously reported that, by presidential decree, a 30-day visa-free regime will be introduced for citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman starting from June 1, 2025. According to the document, the country aims to welcome 15.8 million foreign tourists and to increase the export of tourism services to USD 4 billion.
Moreover, a reciprocal visa-free regime between Uzbekistan and China will also come into effect on June 1. Under this agreement, citizens of both countries will be able to travel without a visa for up to 30 days.
