These actions could significantly expand the investment portfolio and presence of the Bank in the region. He also urged the EIB to consider closer cooperation in green finance and innovation exchange with the International Financial Centre Astana.
The parties agreed to create a special working group and the development of a roadmap for detailed investment co-operation.
In turn, EIB Vice President Teresa Czerwinska commented to Kazinform that during the meeting with the Kazakh delegation it was emphasised that Kazakhstan is a key country for the European Investment Bank in Central Asia.
- To date, the Bank has issued four loans totalling €269.5 million. These projects support local private sector development by providing access to finance to local SMEs, while encouraging them to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
In the future, the Bank will focus on supporting investments in Kazakhstan in line with the principles and priorities of the EU-Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the Global Gateway programme," said the EIB Vice President.
