Speaking at the fourth meeting of the National Kurultai, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of tourism development for regional economic growth, reports a Kazinform correspondent.

"Tourism should become a significant driver of regional growth. Events of national and international significance held in various regions contribute to strengthening their tourism potential. One such project this year is the 'Commonwealth Fair' in Taraz, which will bring together artisans and agricultural producers from many countries. The fair will not only deepen economic ties with our partners but also enhance Taraz’s reputation as one of the oldest centers of trade and culture. Moreover, it will attract new investments and increase tourist flows to the region," President Tokayev stated.

The President also emphasized that similar major cultural and tourism events are held in every region and have already become traditional and highly anticipated.

"These events should be primarily funded through sponsorships. It is essential to distribute them evenly throughout the year, focus on branding and promotion, and ensure extensive media coverage. Each such event should attract attention both domestically and internationally. This will increase interest in the regions and contribute to tourism development," the Head of State added.
