Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his article “Independence is the Most Valuable Thing” stated that “the idea of statehood and patriotism should always be reflected in artistic and documentary historical works. We learn from the figures of “Alash”, who at one time showed an excellent example of serving the country. At the beginning of the last century, they made a great contribution to the glorification of the ideas of independence among the people and sacrificed themselves in the name of freedom. On the occasion of the anniversary of our independence, we must remember such unique personalities and show their legacy to our youth and the world," he wrote.
Thus, the exhibition featured exhibits and books from the library and museum collections of the Presidential Center, historical documents about public figures.
"Through the exhibition, we intend to promote the innocently forgotten names of domestic figures, their enlightened ideas and convey them to the younger generation. Remembering the important stages of our people's path to independence, we must not forget about the Alash and Turkestan autonomies, which contributed to the formation and development of our statehood. Despite their short life, these organizations sowed the seeds of our modern democracy. We know the fate of the dual autonomy - the Turkestan autonomy, created at the end of 1917, just two months later, in February 1918. The Alash autonomy was dissolved in March 1920.Its leaders - Akhmet Baitursynuly, Alikhan Bukeikhanov, Myrzhakyp Dulatov, Mukhametzhan Tynyshpayev became victims of the totalitarian system, Mustafa Shokai died far from his homeland, but did not renounce his ideas of national freedom.
