The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in France hosted the grand opening of the convention for compatriots and kandastar (ethnic Kazakhs) living in European countries. The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in France and the Akimat (Regional Administration) of the Kyzylorda Region, in cooperation with the "Otandastar Qory" NJSC and the Kazakh-French-Turkish Association (AKFT Paris).
The primary objective of the gathering is to strengthen the unity of the Kazakh diaspora abroad, foster ties with the historical Homeland, and enhance cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from prominent officials and community leaders, including:
— Gulsara Arystankulova – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the French Republic;
— Ardak Zebeshev – Deputy Akim of the Kyzylorda Region;
— Alibek Zhurkadam – Vice President of the "Otandastar Foundation" NJSC;
— Rashida Yuksel – Deputy Chairperson of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey;
— Rejep Günay – Chairman of the Kazakh-French-Turkish Association;
— Larisa Aldabergenova – Head of the "Tildes KZ" speaking project.
In her address, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized that this convention, held in the heart of Paris, has become a vital platform for strengthening the spiritual unity of Kazakhs living abroad. She highlighted the historical continuity connecting the Kazakh people to the heritage of the Golden Horde and underscored Kazakhstan's growing role as a reliable bridge between Europe and Asia. Furthermore, the Ambassador stressed that the mother tongue, national spirit, and historical memory remain the core values that unite all Kazakhs worldwide.
As part of the convention, a round table discussion was held featuring leaders and activists of various Kazakh community associations. Alibek Zhurkadam, Vice President of the "Otandastar Qory" NJSC, briefed the attendees on the foundation's current activities and ongoing initiatives, inviting participants to actively engage in collaborative projects. The delegates also discussed future joint ventures and key areas for further cooperation.
The cultural segment of the program featured performances by artists from the Kyzylorda Regional Philharmonic. Concurrently, local artisans from the region organized an exhibition showcasing traditional national arts and crafts.
On May 23-24, the European Kazakh Kurultai (Convention) will be held, organized by the Kazakh-French-Turkish Association (AKFT Paris). Within the framework of the Kurultai, the AKFT association will organize a football tournament among Kazakh youth in Europe in the city of Garges-lès-Gonesse, as well as cultural and public events and a special program dedicated to national culture.
The convention brought together Kazakh citizens and kandastar from more than 20 countries, including:
The United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Hungary, Turkey, and Mongolia.
