On July 11, 2025, a festive concert was held in Madrid, Spain, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh thinker and poet Abai Kunanbayuly and Astana Day. The event was jointly organized by the “Otandastar Qory” NJSC, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Spain, and with the support of the Turkistan Region authorities.
The concert featured performances by artists from the Shamshi Kaldayakov Philharmonic of the Turkistan Region, the “Tumar” folk ensemble, the “Farab” dance troupe, and the neo-ethno-folk group “Arqaiym.” Additionally, an ethnic fashion exhibition by Kazakh designers from “VK Kerbez” was held as part of the event.
The evening opened with the graceful “Kerbez Sylqym” dance by the “Farab” troupe, setting the tone with vibrant national aesthetics. The “Tumar” ensemble's renditions of the kuis “Adai” and “Balbyrauyn” stirred deep emotions in the audience, conveying the spirit of the Kazakh steppe. The heartfelt performance of the song “Dudarai” by philharmonic soloist Daniyar Barys deeply touched the guests.
At the fashion exhibition, “VK Kerbez” designers presented over 10 contemporary national-style outfits. The combination of craftsmanship and elegance in Kazakh attire drew great interest from international guests.
To close the concert, the “Arqaiym” group introduced traditional Kazakh musical instruments and performed several compositions, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Around 300 people attended the event, including members of the Kazakh diaspora living in Europe, “DearsDimash” fan club members, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and officials from the Madrid city administration. Guests also arrived from Barcelona, Valencia, Granada (Spain), and Budapest (Hungary), expressing deep appreciation for Kazakh art and culture.
Clara from Valencia shared her emotions:
“Even in Kazakhstan, I haven't seen a concert like this. It was simply wonderful, as if it eased our longing for the homeland,” she said.
This festive evening provided the Kazakh diaspora with a strong spiritual connection to their homeland and was a meaningful step toward preserving national identity and strengthening cultural ties.
