Kazakhstan Introduces a New Investor Visa

05 May 2025

The Republic of Kazakhstan has taken another significant step toward closer engagement with international business. At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, new rules have been approved for obtaining an investor visa aimed at enhancing the country’s investment appeal and supporting long-term business partnerships.

Under the new regulations, foreign nationals who invest at least USD 300,000 into the charter capital of Kazakh companies or into domestic securities will be eligible to apply for the investor visa electronically. This so-called “golden visa” provides an opportunity to obtain a residence permit in Kazakhstan for up to 10 years.

Such visa programs are widely used in international practice—including in Europe, the United States, the UAE, and Singapore—and have proven to be an effective tool for attracting capital, technology, and business activity. Kazakhstan is joining this practice by introducing its own model of investment residency.

The “golden visa” program is designed to create a favorable and predictable environment for foreign investors, ensure legal guarantees, and build confidence in the country's investment climate. This new initiative reflects Kazakhstan's strategic commitment to openness, capital protection, and the development of stable international economic relations.

The regulation will enter into force 10 days after its official publication.
