On April 13, 2025, the traditional "Otandastar Cup" international basketball tournament among kandas students was held at the Basketball Academy court in Astana. The event was jointly organized by the “Otandastar Qory” NJSC and Astana Basketball Club.

Nearly 100 Kazakh students studying at higher education institutions in Kazakhstan, originally from the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, took part in the tournament. In the group stage, 24 teams from Almaty, Pavlodar, Karagandy, and Oskemen competed against each other. Based on the results, the top eight teams advanced to the playoff stage. The quarterfinals featured matchups between “Khovd Shonkhoruud”, “ZOO Party”, “Blazers”, “Nomad Yurt”, “AAA”, “IMS”, “Predators”, and “Nonstop”. The teams “Khovd Shonkhoruud”, “Blazers”, “AAA”, and “Predators” secured their spots in the semifinals.

In a heated battle for third place, team “AAA” defeated “Blazers” and claimed the bronze medal. The final game between “Khovd Shonkhoruud” and “Predators” impressed the fans with a high level of performance. As a result, “Khovd Shonkhoruud” emerged as the tournament champion.

The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates with the support of Rubai restaurant.

 

Thirteen-time champion of the Kazakhstan Basketball League, Rustam Yergali, personally congratulated the winners and wished the young athletes success in their sports careers.
