Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr Yerlan Nysanbayev and the US Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr D. Rosenblum discussed some issues of cooperation in the field of ecology and climate change. Rosenblum discussed some issues of co-operation in the field of ecology and climate change.

The parties noted that during the COP28 Conference Kazakhstan joined the Global Commitment on Methane.

The Minister said that as a result of the implementation of measures to reduce methane emissions in national oil and gas companies, it is planned to reduce emissions by almost 2 per cent by 2030 from the level of 2020, and in the coal industry and waste generation sector by 4.9 per cent.

It was also noted that work continues within the Strategy to achieve carbon neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2060. In addition, it was announced about the work on the introduction of the best available techniques at large enterprises of the country and automated emissions monitoring system.

At the end of the meeting it was agreed to continue joint work in the above areas.
