On May 29, 2025, a tourist train will depart from the city of Xi'an on the route “Xi'an – Almaty.” This initiative is timed to coincide with the Second “Central Asia – China” Summit.
The train is expected to arrive in Almaty on May 31, and the guests will spend five days in Kazakhstan’s southern capital. The delegation includes more than 250 participants, among them representatives of government agencies, business, science, culture, healthcare, and sports, as well as tourists. The delegation is headed by Deputy Mayor of Xi'an, Xiao Qi.
A rich cultural and humanitarian program has been prepared for the passengers: a ceremonial welcome, the opening of the “Shaanxi – Almaty” week, participation in a fair, symposiums, business meetings, and guided tours of Almaty’s key attractions.
The return journey of the tourist train to Xi'an is scheduled for June 5.
The project is being implemented on the initiative of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “NC Kazakh Tourism,” JSC “NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Almaty City Tourism Department, and tour operators.
