Starting in the second half of 2025, citizens of Kazakhstan will be allowed to enter Uzbekistan without the need for an international passport, according to turkystan.kz.
Crossing the border will require only a national ID card.
According to the foreign ministries of both countries, the agreement is in the final stage of approval and may come into effect by the end of 2025.
Key changes:
Entry into Uzbekistan will be permitted with a national ID card
Stay without a passport or visa will be allowed for up to 30 days
For longer stays, a visa or temporary residence permit will still be required
The decision aims to simplify travel, strengthen bilateral ties, and reduce border crossing times.
