An international cultural evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Kazakh composer, conductor, and People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Nurgisa Tlendiyev, was held in the capital of China, Beijing.
As part of the anniversary event, a creative program titled "Älqissa" was presented at the city's central concert hall. The evening featured musical works reflecting the life and artistic legacy of the composer.
The solemn event was attended by the Akim of Almaty Region, Marat Sultangaziyev, who delivered a welcoming speech. In his address, the regional head emphasized the significance of cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
“Nurgisa Tlendiyev is the golden core of Kazakh spirituality. His compositions are a unique heritage that reflects the historical memory and cultural code of the nation. The celebration of the great composer’s centenary in Beijing stands as a vivid testament to the friendship and mutual respect between our two peoples,” stated Marat Sultangaziyev.
Following the official part of the program, the Otyrar sazy folklore and ethnographic orchestra named after N. Tlendiyev took the stage and performed selected works by the composer. The orchestra was conducted by the composer’s daughter, Dinzukhra Tlendiyeva, an Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.
The evening also featured performances by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Seken Turysbek, Honored Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurken Ashirov and Madina Saduaqasova, as well as creative ensembles from the Almaty Region. As part of the event, an exhibition of traditional Kazakh applied arts and light industry products was organized.
One of the concert participants, a Beijing resident named Kalamkas Serikkizy, shared her impressions:
“Nurgisa Tlendiyev’s music is true art that speaks directly to the heart. In the sounds of kyuis and melodies, I felt the spirit of my homeland. Although I was born and raised in China, I feel a deep pride in being Kazakh,” she said.
