Kazakhstan–Thailand Cooperation on Halal and Technical Standards

A working meeting was held in Astana between representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Thailand to discuss issues related to technical regulation and the development of the market for Halal goods and services.

The event was attended by experts from the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology (KazStandard), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from Thailand’s Institute for Future Development (IFD) and the Office of Industrial Economics of Thailand.

During the meeting, the Kazakh side presented the activities of the Halal Conformity Assessment Body (Halal CAB) under KazStandard. It was noted that KazStandard is an accredited Halal certification body, holding an accreditation certificate issued by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC). The certification covers a wide range of products, including meat and dairy products, confectionery, beverages, and other categories.

The Thai delegation expressed interest in learning from Kazakhstan’s experience in Halal certification. Both sides agreed to continue their cooperation.

This meeting marked an important step towards strengthening collaboration between Kazakhstan and Thailand in the fields of technical regulation and Halal certification, contributing to the development of trade and ensuring high product quality at the international level.
