Entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan and Italy will meet at a business forum in Astana this year

16 January 2025

In Astana, chaired by the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliev held a meeting with the President of the Kazakh-Italian Trade Association Marco Beretta. The meeting continued the trade and economic mission of the Minister to Italy, held in October 2024.

The main topic of discussion was the prospects for further development of trade and economic relations and increasing the volume of bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Italy. Particular attention was paid to the need to establish export-import supply chains between Kazakhstan and Italy, as well as other countries.

At the end of 11 months of 2024 trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Italy totalled $ 18.2 billion. Exports from Kazakhstan to Italy for this period increased by 27.3% and totalled $17 billion.

Minister Arman Shakkaliev noted the key role of air cargo in ensuring reliable logistics. Kazakhstan, due to its strategic geographical location and dynamic development of airport infrastructure, provides ample opportunities for efficient cargo delivery. Currently, cargo flights to Kazakhstan are performed by the Italian air cargo company Neos.

The parties also discussed the interest of the Italian industrial company ‘Ansaldo’ in localising the production of electric turbines in Kazakhstan. This project could be an important step in strengthening the industrial potential of Kazakhstan and deepening its economic partnership with Italy.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in organising a Kazakh-Italian business forum, which is planned to be held this year. It is expected that the forum will bring together about 100 companies and more than 200 business representatives from both countries.
