Representatives of Turkic countries discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of information

The 5th Meeting of Ministers and High-level Officials on Media and Information of the Organisation of Turkic States was held in Bishkek. It was attended by Kuanyshbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, Altynbek Maksutov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanat Iskakov, Vice-Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delegations from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Hungary.

The Kazakh delegation also included representatives of RTRK Kazakhstan and Khabar Agency.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of information interaction of the countries-participants of the OTS, development of cooperation, relations of the Member States of the Organisation. During the meeting Kanat Iskakov emphasised the special role of mass media in preserving stability and ensuring security of the society, adding that interaction in the sphere of information between Turkic countries gives impetus to strengthening of culture and historical interconnection of the OTG countries.

The importance of continuing work aimed at countering disinformation, implementing joint media projects and sharing experience in the information sphere was also noted. In addition, the Kazakh delegation held a number of meetings with colleagues from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, sharing their experience in implementing the state information policy, including on the adopted Law "About Online Platforms and Online Advertising".

The participants discussed issues of mutual co-operation in the field of information and media, content exchange, creation of a unified platform to combat disinformation, as well as joint work in the field of public diplomacy. At the end of the two-day meeting, it was decided to further strengthen co-operation between the OTS participating countries, and priority areas for development were identified, including improving and promoting co-operation between the media, as well as information exchange on a wider scale.
