The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of RK proposes to make adjustments to the current classifier of professions of higher and postgraduate education and include the following professions: "Hydraulic engineering construction and construction", "Land reclamation and irrigated agriculture", "Water supply and drainage of settlements", "Water resources management", "Hydraulic reclamation", "Automation and management of technological processes in the water sector", "Innovative technologies and their use in the water sector", "Hydroengineering", "Water management", and "Water resources management".
Similar specialties are proposed to be included in Master's and Doctoral programmes. It is planned that students of profile universities will undergo industrial practice in subordinate organisations of the Ministry, where all types of hydraulic structures are available. The Ministry is also planning to initiate the allocation of grants for training of Kazakhstani students abroad in water sector specialities.
In addition, professional development centres for water sector workers will be organised. And together with international partners, a new speciality - "Water Diplomacy" - is planned to be introduced in domestic universities.
"To solve the problem of staff shortage, the Ministry intends to take necessary measures to improve training and advanced training programmes for specialists in the field of water resources management, use and protection. The issue of raising salaries of water professionals will be considered separately. At the same time, we will adopt successful experience of other countries, for this purpose international contacts are being actively established", - said the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the RK Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
