Over the past 14 years, the number of people in Kazakhstan has grown by 20 percent

The Bureau of National Statistics has started to publish the final results of the "Population Census 2021".

It should be noted that data on Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Karagandy oblasts are presented at the time of the census, i.e. before their division. At the same time, the number of population in the newly created oblasts is recalculated taking into account the census data and reflected in the indicators posted on the website stat.gov.kz.

"Since the last census in 2009, the population of Kazakhstan has grown by 20 per cent. Thus, the population according to the results of the census as of 1 September 2021 was 19,186,015 people.
In three regions the population exceeded 2 million people - Almaty (2 146 576) and Turkestan regions (2 054 021) and the city of Almaty (2 030 285)", - writes the Bureau of Statistics.

In this case, in the intercensal period, the largest population growth is observed in Astana city - 2 times (from 613 thousand to 1 234 thousand people), 1.5 times in Shymkent city (from 730 thousand to 1 112.4 thousand people) and Mangistau region (from 485 thousand to 735 thousand people).
