Member countries of the Organisation of Turkic States signed the Astana Act and a number of other documents, Kazinform agency reports.

The head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Turkic peoples live on a vast territory from Lake Baikal to the Balkan Peninsula.

- Everyone knows that Turkic civilisation originated in the Great Steppe. The heir to our common values is the Organisation of Turkic States. Kazakhstan is interested in the further development of the OTG. Our common goal is to deepen co-operation between Turkic peoples. We must popularise the new brand "Turkic World". Only in this way can we strengthen the solidarity of Turkic peoples and increase their potential," said Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.

The head of state also added that Kazakhstan, as chairman of the TNA, attaches great importance to the activation of measures of interaction and makes efforts to establish contacts in various spheres, to enhance our international reputation.
