Preparatory work for the UNESCO World Youth Forum

Almaty, 17 January 2025 - Ambassador-at-Large - Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Zhanibek Abdrashov held a meeting with Amir Pirich, Director of the UN Regional Office for Education, Science and Culture for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The parties summarised the results of cooperation in 2024, noting significant achievements in the implementation of projects to address water issues and combat climate change. Special attention was paid to Kazakhstan's initiative to establish the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, which was supported by all countries of the region and the UN Secretary-General.

The UNESCO representative emphasised the importance of further expansion of partnership relations and noted the visit of UNESCO Director-General Audre Azoulay in 2023 as an important step in the development of bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was paid to the UNESCO Global Youth Forum, which will be held on 19-20 February 2025 in Almaty and will become a platform for the exchange of views and development of solutions in the fields of education, science and culture among the youth of the region.
