At the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Satbayev University, Masters student Zhalgasbek Beknur under the guidance of the Student Design Bureau at the Department of Mechanical Engineering presented a unique device - a verticaliser designed to improve the quality of life of people with special needs.
This rotary verticaliser is used for rehabilitation of cerebral palsy patients, after spinal and craniocerebral injuries, as well as after prolonged lying (horizontal) position, etc. Lightweight and easy to use, the angle of inclination of the bed from the horizontal position (maximum) 80 degrees, makes it an effective tool for medical procedures.
The development of the verticaliser was made possible thanks to the active participation of students and faculty, as well as the Centre for Support and Maintenance of Inclusive Education within the Meikaton TOM Almaty festival. Satbayev University responded enthusiastically to a request from community organisations to create a device for people with limited mobility.
It should be reminded that the Centre for Support and Support of Inclusive Education was opened by MP Tansaule Serikov with the support of Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek at Satbayev University on 5 May 2023.
The verticaliser, developed by a student in co-authorship with mentors represented by teachers and employees of SCB at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, provides new opportunities for patients with disabilities. The versatility and efficiency of the device allow expanding the range of people who can be helped.
Satbayev University is committed to maximising its reach and improving the quality of life for disabled people. This initiative is designed to make our world more inclusive and provide opportunities for all.
