The contest for the Abay State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Literature and Art 2024 has been announced. Acceptance of applications and works from applicants will last until March 1.

The Abai State Prize is awarded to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreigners for outstanding works in the field of literature and art, recognised as a particularly valuable contribution to the development of culture in Kazakhstan.

According to the conditions, nomination of works for the Prize is made by collegiums of state bodies, creative unions and collectives. Works (one work) of one author or a collective of authors, performed for public circulation not earlier than five years and not later than one year before the end of the acceptance of works may be nominated. 

The number of applicants of the collective of applicants nominated for the Abay State Prize shall not exceed 5 persons. A work for the Abai State Prize shall be nominated only once.

The order of nomination of applicants for the Abai State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of literature and art is determined by the Regulation "On the State Prizes of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology named after Al-Farabi, humanities named after A. Baitursynuly and literature and art named after Abai", approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 993 of 21 January 2015.

The list of works submitted to the contest, including the authors and organisations that nominated them for the Abay State Prize, will be published in the national media for wide and open discussion.
