Meeting with the representative of the OECD Antonio Capobianco and AZRC took place within the framework of the working mission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development to Kazakhstan for the preparation of the Second Review of competition law and policy in Kazakhstan.
As noted at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, to date, the OECD recommendations given in the First Review have been implemented by 80%.
‘The Head of State has set a goal for us to bring Kazakhstan's economic policy in line with the high standards of the OECD, we have put most of the recommendations into action. Today we are ready to discuss the issues of interest to you within the framework of the Second Review,’ - appealed the Deputy Prime Minister to the participants of the meeting.
The parties discussed recent initiatives of Kazakhstan in the field of competition development and liberalisation of Kazakhstan's economy. In particular, they noted positively the establishment of the National Privatisation Office under the ACPK and its plans to reduce state participation in business. The OECD representatives plan to hold several further meetings with the heads of other government agencies and international organisations to gather material for the preparation of the Second Review of Kazakhstan's Competition Law and Policy.
