On the initiative of the Telecommunications Committee of Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the RK and "NITEC" the project "Qosyl" for online video conferencing was implemented.
The Ministry proposed to introduce this system as an online service for holding open meetings in central and local executive bodies in pilot mode until September 2023.
The launch of the programme in pilot mode has been completed, and today central state bodies are already successfully using the domestic product for online meetings.
Bagdat Musin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, noted the importance of this project in the civil service.
"Today, government agencies are actively using online platforms for holding meetings, which saves time for civil servants. In this regard, the Ministry, together with NITEC, decided to develop a domestic software system.
The Qosyl project has become one of the successful projects. First of all, the new system ensures that meetings are held in a secure information environment, which is especially important for government agencies. In addition, it does not require excessive resources, which makes it convenient to use," Bagdat Musin noted.
According to project manager Nurislan Isakov, this product was created back in 2020. However, it took some time to successfully implement and pass the tests.
"This project was created in 2020, during the pandemic. There were requests from government agencies to create online video conferencing, which will not depend on foreign manufacturers and will not work through their servers. It was required that the product would work on Kazakhstan's servers, which would pass the information security test and meet our requirements.
Since the release of the first version in 2020 and up to today, the product has been continuously updated and developed. We add new functionalities according to the requests of our Customers and improve the technological part of the product. And now we can scale and develop the current version without any limitations," says Nurislan Isakov.
This platform has many advantages. The product can be adapted to the specifics of any organisation, integrated with other systems, and new functionality can be developed, which means there are no limitations. It should also be noted that in this system there is no limit on the time of use.
One of the key features of Qosyl compared to foreign platforms is a high level of information security.
"Our software has successfully passed the test for compliance with information security requirements. Also, due to the fact that the servers are located in Kazakhstan, all media traffic does not pass through foreign countries. In addition, the domestic system can be deployed on any servers without requiring specialised equipment, ordinary server capacity, cameras and microphones are enough. The second point, if we compare it with Zoom, our product is easier to use. Even an inexperienced person can use it more easily compared to other products. It does not require downloading additional applications, you can connect through any browser on any device. You may also download an app if you wish.
The beginning of the form in 2023, we piloted this programme in ICRIAP for six months and made a lot of refinements based on user requests. Based on the results of this pilot it was decided to put the product into operation", - said Nurislan Isakov.
Since November 2023, the Qosyl system has been successfully launched and officially implemented for use in government agencies. In the future, it is planned to adapt this product for use in the educational sector.
