Astana, 12 February 2024 - Astana will host the region's premier international conference, the Astana International Forum (AIF), on 13-14 June 2024 under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan's President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. Building on the success of the first Forum in 2023, this year's event will provide an exceptional opportunity for the global community to once again unite in the face of growing challenges to global security, stability and prosperity.
The Astana 2024 International Forum will bring together high-level government delegates and business leaders from around the world to exchange views on the most pressing issues of the day and identify new areas of co-operation.
Given the success of the forum in 2023, which brought together more than 5,000 delegates from over 50 countries, including heads of state, the world's leading politicians, business leaders and public figures - AIF2024 will again focus on four main areas: foreign policy and international security, international development and sustainability, energy and climate change, and economics and finance.
These areas will serve as the main topics of a rich two-day series of panel sessions, discussions and special networking opportunities, with the ultimate goal of achieving practical results for the revival of multilateralism and new opportunities for bilateral partnership.
Commenting on the launch of preparations for the Second Astana International Forum, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said:
"In an era marked by polarisation and fragmentation, ongoing economic and geopolitical upheavals can undermine the basic principles of cooperation and mutual respect. I am very proud that through the Astana International Forum, Kazakhstan is helping to protect and strengthen the international system at this key juncture.
Under the slogan "Inspiring People, Uniting Nations: Creating a Better World Together", AIF2024 intends to re-energise the global community by offering new perspectives and joint solutions to the most important challenges facing humanity today.
Kazakhstan has long been an important bridge between East and West. This strategic position in the world - geographically, culturally and politically - allows us to organise important discussions and facilitate meaningful communication between leading politicians, business leaders and public figures from around the world."
The Astana 2024 International Forum is an important milestone for Kazakhstan on the world stage, as this year the country will chair several leading international organisations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, the Organisation of Turkic States, the Islamic Food Security Organisation and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
