A creative evening dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi was held in Astana

The National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan, held a gala evening dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen literature, poet, philosopher Magtymguly Fragi.


The event was attended by deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, deputy chairman of the Committee on Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rolland Kuspan, scientists and representatives of the intelligentsia.


Rolland Kuspan noted in his speech that the outstanding poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi occupies a special place in the history of literature and culture not only of the Turkic peoples, but also of the whole world.

“The 300th anniversary of the philosopher this year is widely celebrated on a global scale under the auspices of the authoritative international organization UNESCO. The anniversary of the great thinker is important for us. The poetry of Magtymguly Fragi is very close to the Kazakh people, associated with the Turkmen common history, language and culture,” said Rollan Kuspan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.


In turn, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan Batyr Rejepov expressed gratitude for the support in organizing the anniversary and donated a collection of poems “Maqtymuly pyragy”, translated from Turkmen into Kazakh, to the fund of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books.


As part of the anniversary event, an exhibition was also held, at which the poet’s original manuscripts and poetry collections were presented.
