Round Table "Unified Turkic Literature" Held in Almaty with the Support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Almaty hosted the round table discussion "Tübi Bir Türki Ädebieti" ("Unified Turkic Literature") with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, Mereke Kulkenov, Deputy Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, Minkhodzhiddin Khozhimatov, as well as renowned authors from both countries.
The key theme of the meeting was the strengthening of literary ties and their influence on the readership. The literature and culture of the Kazakh and Uzbek peoples share a profound historical and spiritual connection, rooted in their common Turkic identity. This trend continues in the modern era, with representatives of the new generation of writers translating their works into Kazakh and Uzbek.
For the Uzbek guests, a guided tour of the National Library of Kazakhstan was organized, along with an exhibition of unique documents from the collection of rare books and manuscripts. The display included an 18th-century Quran, the "Risala" of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi (16th century), "Diwani Hikmet" (19th century), "Hikmet Khazreti" (18th century), as well as the historical biographical chronicle "Nasabnama" (17th century) about Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and the hikmets of his disciple, Suleiman Bakyrgani.
Among the exhibits were masterpieces of Eastern literature, including Khamsa by Nizami Ganjavi (15th century), Diwani by Alisher Navoi (17th century), and Shahnameh by Abulqasim Ferdowsi (18th century). As part of the event, a book exhibition dedicated to the literature and culture of Uzbekistan was also held.
Additionally, members of the Uzbek delegation and Kazakh writers honored the memory of the great Kazakh poet Abai by laying flowers at his monument. They also visited the house-museum of academician and classic of Kazakh literature, Mukhtar Auezov.
Earlier, the Bridge of Friendship forum was held in Turkistan, bringing together youth representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Participants paid particular attention to the promotion of working professions and the transformation of the labor market under the influence of artificial intelligence.
