On December 25, 2023, the National Bank of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the NBK) issued banknotes with a nominal value of 5,000 tenge with a new design. 

This is the first banknote from the new “Saki Style” series. It is based on elements of the “Saka style”, which is considered the ancestor of traditional Kazakh ornament and reflects the country’s heritage - from the unique culture of nomads to modern Kazakhstan.

The NBK reminds you of simple rules that will help you independently distinguish real banknotes from counterfeit ones and introduces the security elements of the 5,000 tenge banknote of a new design for 2023.

About the security elements of a banknote
The banknote uses a special type of printing that creates a relief - gold intaglio. The coat of arms of the Republic of Kazakhstan is applied in a high-relief layer of golden metallic paint.

On the front side of the banknote along the edges there are convex high-relief elements that are clearly visible to the touch. This is a marker for people with low vision.

The banknote also features a diving two-color security thread. It appears on the surface of the banknote in the form of dotted lines, which are visible in transmitted light as one continuous thread. When you change the angle of the banknote, a dynamic pulsation effect of the interacting colors of red and blue appears.

In addition, on the front side of the banknote there is a protective element in the form of a three-dimensional image of a stylized golden eagle - a patch. When the banknote is rotated, the effect of switching the image from the denomination figure to the ornament is observed, as well as the dynamic effect of the rays of the solar sign diverging to the sides.

Individual artistic elements are applied to the banknote with a special paint with a golden shine, the so-called iridescent paint.

The security element is a local watermark – electrotype. In transmitted light, the electrotype is clearly visible in the form of an image of the denomination.

On the reverse side of the banknote there is a Spark element in the form of a three-dimensional image of the Golden Eagle artifact. When changing the angle of the banknote, the color of Spark changes from gold to jade.

This check of banknotes will take a few seconds and will help determine the authenticity of the banknotes.
