Meeting with the delegation of the Swiss Federal Department of Development and Cooperation

A meeting was held between Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Z. Aliyev, and the Swiss Ambassador to Kazakhstan, S. Bal, along with a delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.

The primary goal of the meeting was to introduce the regional initiative Blue Peace Central Asia (BPCAS), present its key strategic directions, enhance capacity, promote research, exchange data, and create dialogue platforms.

The Kazakhstani side expressed interest in collaborating on the development of an information system for flood modeling and in capacity-building in this area.

In his speech, the Vice Minister emphasized Kazakhstan’s readiness for cooperation through the exchange of experience and advanced technologies for monitoring the quality of surface and marine waters, as well as flood forecasting.

Representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources also informed the Swiss delegation that Kazakhstan, as a party to the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is actively pursuing a climate policy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed hope that the joint efforts and resource consolidation would lead to significant results aimed at improving the environmental situation.
