Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan extend mutual entry period for nationals

The Kazakh Senate passed the law ratifying the protocol on changes to the agreement between the Kazakh and Uzbek governments on travel conditions for citizens of both countries of July 7, 2000, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.  

The protocol on changes to the agreement between the Kazakh and Uzbek governments on travel conditions for citizens of both countries of July 7, 2000, was signed on December 22, 2022, as part of the visit of the Head of State of Kazakhstan to Tashkent.

The aim of the law is to create a legal framework for further promotion of friendly relations between the two countries, regulate travels of both countries’ nationals as well as establish favorable staying conditions for nationals of both countries.

The protocol provides for a simplified staying procedure for citizens of the two countries with no need to register with respective bodies unless the period of stay exceeds 30 calendar days since crossing the border of the party state. So, the countries extended the period of stay of their nationals in the territory of the party state from five to 30 calendar days without temporarily registration.

In particular, irrespective of place of residence nationals of both countries can enter, leave, transit or move through the territory of another party country in case their period of stay do not exceed 30 calendar days since passing the state border or total 90 calendar days during each period of 180 calendar days.

To note, Kazakhstan has entered the top three foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan following two months of this year, with the total trade turnover between the countries hitting 500 million US dollars.

In addition, the Kazakh Majilis works on the draft law on ratification of the agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on cooperation in ecology and environmental protection.

Both countries also agreed on installation of water meters to calculate the amount of water consumed by both sides.
