The head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry met with the SCO Secretary General

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Zhang Ming, who arrived in the capital to participate in the next meeting of the secretaries of the security councils of the SCO member states.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed current issues of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Organization and preparations for the Astana SCO summit in July 2024.

The interlocutors noted the historical significance of the upcoming summit, which will be held for the first time in the SCO Plus format, as well as with the participation of Belarus as a full member of the Organization.

In turn, Ch. Min noted that Kazakhstan is an active participant in the SCO and supports our country’s initiatives aimed at further strengthening the potential of the Organization.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan also expressed gratitude to the Secretary General of the Organization for his comprehensive assistance in promoting Kazakh initiatives and personal contribution to the preparation of the final package of documents for the Astana summit.
