04 April, 2024

The Kazakhstan sports and patriotic expedition Kazakh Everest Team to the highest peak of the planet Everest starts on April 6 this year.

The ascent is dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Rakhimzhan Koshkarbaev and Aliya Moldagulova.

The expedition is led by the famous Kazakh mountaineer, instructor of the Mountain Training Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major Maksut Zhumayev. The Kazakh Everest Team consists of seven people, including skyrunner Anar Burasheva.

The participation of representatives of the “fairer sex” in climbing to the “Top of the World” invariably arouses great interest. The climbers set a goal - having climbed Everest, to hoist the State Flag of Kazakhstan there.

“We have to not only write a new page in the history of the country, but also inspire the younger generation of athletes,” notes Maksut Zhumayev. – I support the idea of gender equality even in extreme sports. If modern girls have the readiness and strength to conquer the highest peaks on an equal basis with men, then we must help them take this step.

Anar Burasheva has climbed local peaks of categories 1b, 2a and 2b, the peaks of Talgar, Mont Blanc and Kilimanjaro. Anar works as a coach at the Space Trail Running club. She is a skyrunner in Sky Run Group and a pacer in Nike Running Club Almaty. Has sports awards for first and prize places in such professional competitions as Thian Shan trail race 42 km, Tengri ultra 35 km, Almaty mountain half marathon, Irbis race 42 km, Red planet Race 30 km, Almaty marathon 42 km and Madeira Island Ultra Trail 60 km.

– The climb to Everest is one of the most difficult. This is a unique experience of concentration, will and overcoming oneself - this is how Anar characterizes his ascent. “I feel strong and ready to go through this route. I believe that women must conquer new niches in the modern world, expand the boundaries of their own dreams and possibilities.

Before the final ascent to the summit of Everest (8849 m), the expedition members will wait for a favorable weather window. The natural conditions on Everest are extreme - stormy winds, frosts down to minus 50°C, avalanches, rockfalls, ice cracks and snowfalls. According to the plan, the ascent will last 12–16 hours. The descent will also take 6-8 hours and will require the same concentration and determination as the ascent.

According to Maksut Zhumaev, his most important task is to preserve the life and health of the expedition members. Professionalism, maximum risk reduction and unquestioning obedience of team members are the principles that guide the legendary climber.
