In Almaty, the Kazakhfilm film studio presented an exclusive film screening of the legendary film on Valentine's Day in Kazakhstan.
“Kyz–Zhibek” is a pearl of Kazakh folklore and cinema. The film adaptation of the historical film first took place in 1972 at the Kazakhfilm film studio. And half a century later, the film by Kazakh director Sultan-Akhmet Khodzhikov returned to the big screens.
The screening was attended by honored actors of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who played the main roles Meruert Utekesheva and Asanali Ashimov, representatives of cinema and theater.
According to actress Meruert Utekesheva, “Kyz-Zhibek” should be watched by everyone, since cultural figures whose names left an indelible mark on the history of Kazakh art participated in the creation of the legendary film.
“It’s gratifying that after so many years the film “Kyz-Zhibek” can be seen in cinemas. At one time, the film won many hearts, and I think that the current generation will appreciate it,” she said.
We would like to add that all proceeds from the rental will be sent to flood victims.
“We wanted not only to attract the interest of the younger generation to Kazakh art, but also to contribute to the common cause. For this reason, all funds received from the film screening will be directed to charity,” said Azamat Satybaldy, president of the National Film Studio “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov, noting that “Kyz-Zhibek” is part of the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and continues to inspire to this day viewers with your story.
The film can be viewed for five days in all Kinopark Theaters cinemas across Kazakhstan.
