The XXXIII session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan “Unity. Creation. Progress”, which was attended by deputies of the Senate of Parliament from the ANC, leaders and members of republican ethnocultural associations, ANC volunteers, as well as regional delegates of the Assembly via video conferencing.
At the beginning of his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the large-scale work being carried out to overcome the consequences of floods in a number of regions of the country. He emphasized that from the first days of the natural disaster, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has been carrying out active and coordinated work, and all this is a living embodiment of the cohesion and mutual assistance of citizens.
As the President stated, despite the complex challenges and threats that arise, our country will firmly implement its strategic goals and objectives. He recalled that a long way of systemic political reforms has been covered in a short period. As a result, all branches of government began to work in a new coordinate system, the center of which is the protection and promotion of legitimate interests, human rights and freedoms. The transition to a new economic model has begun, which is based on the principles of fairness, inclusiveness, pragmatism and lays a solid foundation for improving the well-being of the entire people.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the agenda of the current session of the Assembly is designated as “Unity. Creation. Progress". These three words very accurately and succinctly reflect the essence of our strategic course. According to him, unity and solidarity have always been and will be the main values and constant guidelines of all state policy.
He pointed out a number of pressing tasks to achieve which it is necessary to focus efforts.
The head of state considers it necessary to synchronize the activities of the Assembly with the new humanitarian and ideological doctrine.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev drew attention to the expanding global cataclysm, the growing confrontation between various states in the military-political, trade-economic and even cultural-humanitarian spheres. He emphasized the importance of creating an atmosphere of intolerance in society towards any manifestations of ethnic exclusivity and isolation, especially provocations and attempts to discriminate against citizens on linguistic, ethnic, religious or cultural grounds.
The President pointed out the need to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Assembly and strengthen its interaction with government bodies, Parliament and maslikhats. It is also necessary to consistently strengthen the role of the Assembly in making government decisions, supporting the reforms carried out in the country, carry out practical activities to identify and preventively eliminate possible pockets of ethno-social tension, as well as strengthen its position as a leading institution of social integration and active patriotism.
Summing up his speech, the Head of State noted that in these tense weeks the country is undergoing a national test of strength and ability to overcome this unprecedented natural disaster with honor. And our people, united in the days of testing, will take a decisive step into an era of renewal and progress, into a better future.
