The head of state - Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the ceremony participants on Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day. He noted that these holidays, embodying the continuity of military traditions, demonstrate loyalty to the heroic path of our ancestors.

– Today, the valiant Kazakh army has become a reliable shield of territorial integrity and stability in the country. Our glorious warriors vigilantly guard the preservation of peace and prosperity. They are always ready to defend their sacred Fatherland. Heroism manifests itself not only on the battlefield; there is also room for exploits in peacetime. This year our country faced floods unprecedented in the last 80 years. During this difficult period, military personnel of the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the personnel of the State Security Service were on the front line, demonstrating a vivid example of fidelity to the oath. More than 9,000 soldiers were deployed to combat the massive floods. Over a thousand units of equipment were delivered. In days of testing, the noblest human qualities are most clearly manifested. Taking this opportunity, I would like to note the merits of 300 military personnel who fought against the elements in the North Kazakhstan region. They built dams day and night and took part in saving settlements from floods. Of course, local residents expressed special gratitude to them, who saw off the servicemen with the warmest feelings. This is clear evidence of the indestructible unity and cohesion of the people and the army. And there are many such examples,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.As the Head of State emphasized, we always remember and honor our front-line soldiers and home front workers, who, at the cost of incredible hardships, brought Victory closer. The President said that war participants receive additional payments every year on Victory Day. This year this amount is up to 3 million tenge for each veteran. He recalled that starting this year, on his initiative, three degrees of the Aibyn Order were given the names of our legendary compatriots Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Rakhymzhan Koshkarbaev. The bravery and courage of such worthy sons of the people is an example for the current and future generations of defenders of the Fatherland.
As the President stated, today, in conditions of increasing geostrategic turbulence, the importance of a strong and combat-ready army is increasing significantly.

– Our military personnel demonstrate professionalism and impeccable combat training, participating in various peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN. Kazakhstan recently received a United Nations mandate for the first time to independently carry out a mission in the Golan Heights. In recent years, we have significantly strengthened our position in the ranking of the military power of the countries of the world - this clearly demonstrates the high combat readiness and coherence of our troops. Kazakhstan has established itself throughout the world as a peace-loving state and has established friendly relations with all countries. We are confident that any conflict should be resolved through constructive dialogue. However, one cannot be careless and inactive. Our army must be ready to repel various threats. A strong army is the backbone of the country,” the Head of State emphasized.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that work to improve professional training and modernize the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan will continue.

– Recently a new air base was opened in Astana. Undoubtedly, this event testifies to the strengthening of the country's defense capability. Much attention is paid to increasing the authority of the Kazakh army. Defending the Motherland is our common duty. It is extremely important that the younger generation understands this well. The state provides comprehensive support to young soldiers. Special educational grants have begun to be allocated, and there is a deferment on loan repayment periods. While serving in the army, you can also obtain a specific profession. The famous Bukhar zhyrau glorified heroism and courage with the words: “Er zhigitke zharasar, kolyndagy nayzasy.” Of course, the army is the most important symbol of the state. “I am proud of the high fighting spirit of our soldiers,” the President said.
