The National Center's fund has been replenished with valuable manuscripts

Employees of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books visited the Abay region with a scientific expedition. In Semey, the expedition members visited several historical places.

In the local mosque they managed to find about a thousand copies of rare manuscripts of the 19th-20th centuries, 27 of which were transferred to the National Center fund. Among them are the book of Abdullah Rumi in the ancient Turkic language, forty hadiths, mujrah for all Muslims of the Soviet Union, etc.

During a visit to the personal scientific library of the scientist-historian Amantai Isauly, the delegation was given 15 manuscripts and rare works of the scientist. Including the book “Gylym Khaly”, published in 1888 and “Tarzhima gin al galam”, published in 1891, rare books from Kazan, Orynbor, Ufa of the early twentieth century.

“The rich collection of rare books and manuscripts found in the local mosque is an invaluable heritage of our ancestors and an integral part of the history of the region. It is very important to preserve it,” says Syrym Botabekov, head of the restoration and conservation department.

Let us note that the main goal of the expeditions is to form a unified list of current manuscripts and rare books on the territory of Kazakhstan and to enter them into the state register.

After a thorough examination of the manuscripts, work on their restoration begins.
