May 13 this year The Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapaev held a meeting with the vice-president of the Swedish company Scania AB Pascal Zappone.
Scania AB is a major manufacturer of trucks, buses, industrial and marine engines. Also in their field of activity is the creation of economical and low-carbon solutions, presented in different models of freight, city and intercity buses. The company has experience in implementing projects for the production of transport equipment in Kazakhstan since 2023, namely trucks of the Swedish brand.
During the meeting, opportunities for the assembly and production of diesel generators in Kazakhstan were discussed. Both parties expressed interest in joint cooperation in the expansion of production capacity, as well as in strengthening industrial potential.
In addition, during the negotiations the issue of transforming Kazakhstan into the center of activity of Scania AB in Central Asia was raised. In turn, the Minister spoke about investment preferences aimed at supporting and attracting foreign investors.
Also during the conversation, a plan for the development of small-knot assembly (SKD) of Scania/Athena in Kazakhstan was discussed. The creation of such an enterprise will create new jobs and contribute to the technological renewal of the transport industry.
The meeting was held on a friendly note, the Kazakh and Swedish sides showed confidence in further deepening cooperation.
