Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov, who arrived in Astana to participate in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. During the conversation, a high assessment was given to the dynamics of the development of Kazakh-Russian relations across the entire spectrum of bilateral interaction.
The heads of foreign affairs departments also exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda, including within the EAEU, CSTO, and CIS. The importance of intensifying work to expand the legal framework for cooperation and the implementation of previously reached agreements was noted.
During the meeting, the ministers signed a Protocol on amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Astrakhan, Russian Federation, and the Consulate of the Russian Federation in the city of Uralsk, Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 9, 2000.
The parties confirmed their intention to continue close interaction at the level of foreign affairs agencies in order to promote the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
