On May 23, the full-length feature film “Songy Ukim” (“The Last Verdict”) will be released in Kazakhstan. The film will tell about the bright life path of a primary school teacher, who was recognized as a mentor by graduates of leading universities in the Russian Empire and Europe, brilliant representatives of the first wave of the Kazakh intelligentsia.

The filmmakers tell how Akhmet Baitursynov created the science of the Kazakh language from scratch, and he was perceived as an equal by the largest Turkologists of the early 20th century. He preferred to be called simply a teacher. Despite all the hardships of life and cruel trials, he did not change his life principles and beliefs.

The film also shows the last moments of the life of Akhmet, who always believed that death could only take away his mortal body, but he himself would never disappear, and everything he did would become the property of his descendants.

The film was created by the studio “Folklore media” by order of the Ministry of Culture and Information and with the support of the NAO State Center for Support of National Cinema.

Filming took place in the cities of Almaty, Semey, in the Almaty region, Abay and Zhetysu regions.
