The National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books held an exhibition “The Written Heritage of the History of the Great Steppe,” which presented exhibits of found manuscripts and rare books and presented reports on the results of the 2024 archaeographic expeditions.
At the third meeting of the National Kurultai, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on the importance of studying and promoting the history of the country, resolving language issues, onomastics, preserving historical heritage and memorable places.
The President also noted the special importance of intensifying work on the return of historical and cultural relics and their copies to Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by representatives of the Central Civil Society, deputies of the Mazhilis of Parliament, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, libraries, archives and public figures.
The exhibition presented copies of 15 manuscripts and archival documents found in Great Britain, as well as more than 150 ancient manuscripts and rare valuable books found in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them are a copy of the holy book of the Koran (X-XII centuries), first translated into the Turkic language and which is an important monument of Turkic-Islamic culture, copies of the works of Abu Nasir al-Farabi, Kozha Ahmet Yasawi and Suleiman Bakyrgani, as well as a manuscript of the 11th century by a Persian historian Gardzi “Zein-al-akhbar”, etc.
There was also a presentation of a new format of the popular science magazine “ULY DALA MURASY” and a catalog-album about manuscripts stored in foreign countries “Valuable written heritage in foreign funds”.
In addition, the importance of collecting national values, their preservation for future generations and other pressing issues arising in this area today were discussed.
