Minister of Tourism and Sports Ermek Marzhikpayev, within the framework of a meeting of heads of tourism administrations of the SCO member states, met with the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov.
During the meeting, Ermek Marzhikpayev noted that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the field of tourism is actively developing. Joint projects aimed at developing cross-border tourism are being implemented. The tourist flow between our countries is growing significantly every year. The main share is made up of pilgrimage tourism.
In turn, on the territory of Uzbekistan there are many holy places related to Islamic culture and recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Cities such as Kokand, Shakhrisabz, Samarkand are the tourist and cultural capitals of the world. Thus, the Tabarruk Ziyorat project, implemented through joint efforts, contributes to the mutual enrichment of not only our citizens, but also tourists from other countries.
“I propose to continue work in this direction. I am confident that the implementation of joint cross-border projects will have a positive impact on the growth of tourist flows between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. “Tabarruk Ziyorat” is a unique tourism product that unites not only ancient cities and monuments, but most importantly the general history of the Turkic states. I am sure that our countries have many tourist destinations that we could promote on the market. Mangistau region has become one of the dynamically developing tourist destinations in Kazakhstan in recent years. The region attracts travelers not only for its beautiful nature and resorts, but also for its rich history with many mysteries. In this regard, we propose to develop a new route that will connect the Mangystau region with the regions of Uzbekistan. In this context, I believe it is necessary to consider the possibility of expanding the directions of regular direct flights,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev.
