Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the solemn ceremony of raising the National Flag at the Atameken ethno-memorial complex in Astana. The head of the honor guard company gave the President a report on readiness for the ceremony. Then the National Anthem was played and the State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan was raised.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated those gathered on the Day of State Symbols and noted that this significant holiday personifies the strengthening of our statehood.

– The ceremony of raising the National Flag on the occasion of today’s date has just taken place. Let our sky-blue banner fly proudly! Honoring him is the sacred duty of every citizen. Our flag, soaring in the blue sky, fills each of us with a sense of respect for our Fatherland. Thanks to his sporting victories, he has repeatedly risen to the top in many international tournaments. Recently, the first Kazakh climber again raised our banner over the highest point in the world - Mount Everest. The Summer Olympic Games are approaching. I am sure that in honor of the victories of our athletes, the sky-blue banner will fly high over the arenas of Paris more than once,” the President said.
The head of state noted that the flag waving in the heights, personifying the Independence of Kazakhstan and the unity of the people, awakens the highest feelings in us.

– In difficult times for the country, our ancestors, united under a common banner, defended their land. They took care of the Great Steppe like the apple of their eye and passed it on to their descendants. It is our duty to preserve this priceless heritage,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.The President stated that Kazakhstan is a peace-loving state whose highest values ​​are harmony and unity. We have established friendly relations with all countries of the world.

– Thanks to our achievements, the turquoise flag of Kazakhstan is perceived throughout the world as a sign of unity and solidarity. We are always faithful to the principles of friendship and mutual respect. Today we are all together building a Fair Kazakhstan - a society in which everyone is given equal opportunities. In a short time, a large-scale political reform was carried out and a new economic paradigm was defined. We have embarked on the path of renewing public consciousness and forming a new quality of the nation. Realizing everything planned is not an easy task. To do this, we first need unity. The people of Kazakhstan are bound by one destiny and a common future. By uniting under the sky-blue flag, we will definitely achieve our goals,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the President, State symbols embody our fundamental values ​​and ideals and awaken in each of us a genuine sense of pride for the country. They unite all citizens both in days of testing and during triumphant victories.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev drew attention to the fact that the assignment of military ranks on the Day of State Symbols has become a good tradition. He also pointed out the significance of the fact that military personnel chose the defense of the Motherland as their life mission.

The great batyr Bauyrzhan Momyshuly said: “Erdіn tuy – namys” (“Honor is the banner of a man”).Patriotic and loyal warriors like you give us confidence in the bright future of Kazakhstan. There is no doubt that you will remain faithful to the oath and vigilantly guard the borders of the country. Conferring a military rank is an important milestone in the life of every military personnel. As Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov said, “Atakty algannan gori, ony arkalap zhurgen kiyn” (“Carrying glory is more difficult than winning it”). These words of the famous commander reflect the enormous responsibility that rests on you. Always be worthy of the glory of a Kazakh soldier! – said the Head of State.
During the ceremony, the 12 best graduates of higher military educational institutions received officer's shoulder straps from the hands of the President - Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the end, the honor guard companies of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs marched in front of the President and the participants of the ceremony.
