The film “Zhambyl” was presented in Astana. Zhana dauir.” The film, shot with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is dedicated to Zhambyl Zhabayev. The events of the film describe the last 9 years of the life of the Great Poet, who left an indelible mark on the history of Kazakh literature.

The film highlights significant events that influenced Zhabaev’s life: a meeting of akyns, publication of poems in newspapers and magazines, meetings with Oraz Zhandosov, Saken Seifullin and other prominent figures of the era.

According to the director, the film is based on historical facts from Moscow archives. It is especially interesting that the film uses information preserved by the grandson of Yosif Gilman, who worked with the akyn.

“The name of Zhambyl is overgrown with many unreliable myths and I really wanted to create a true image of the Great Akyn. In order to immerse myself in that era and glean real facts, I studied documents and books written by contemporaries of that era. At the same time, I was not shooting a documentary film and reserved the right to artistic truth, and not just historical truth,” said Zhandos Kusainov.

The main role in the film was played by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Doszhan Zhanbotaev. The cast also included Almas Shayakhmetov, Anna Starchenko, Asan Mazhit, Erik Zholzhaksynov, Farhad Makhmudov, Philip Voloshin, Asylbek Aitish and others.

It should be noted that the shooting of the historical film “Zhambyl. Zhana dauir" started in 2021, when Kazakhstan celebrated the 175th anniversary of the birth of the famous akyn. The film will be released on wide screens on June 6.
