Cultural centers will open in Kazakhstan and China

Today, the Mazhilis ratified the Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and China on the mutual establishment of cultural centers, signed on November 27, 2023 in Astana. This step is aimed at strengthening friendly relations and developing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere between the two countries.

In accordance with the Agreement, cultural centers will be created in the capitals of both countries - Astana and Beijing. These institutions will operate as non-profit organizations accredited by the relevant states and operating within the framework of the legislation of the host country.

The Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Aida Balaeva, emphasized that the creation of cultural centers will give a new impetus to cultural interaction between Kazakhstan and China.

“During a trip to China on February 25-27, we got acquainted with the location. The Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing, with an area of ​​730 sq.m., will be located in Beijing at the address “ART-ZONE 798”. The first floor will be dedicated to a museum exhibition dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, and the second floor will be dedicated to an exhibition area, including a conference room, a reading room and a library,” the minister said at a plenary meeting of the Mazhilis.

The main activities of the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing include:

Opening a reading room and co-working area, providing access to the Kazakhstan national electronic library, media and websites of educational institutions;

Conducting Kazakh language courses;

Organization of stationary and traveling exhibitions on the history of Kazakhstan, introduction of a virtual museum (3D tours);

Conducting conferences, seminars, symposiums and performances by Kazakhstani artistic groups and performers;

Organization of screenings of Kazakh films.

The main activity of the Kazakh cultural center in Beijing is the promotion and popularization of Kazakh culture and tourism potential abroad.
