On June 14, Shakarim University hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 220th anniversary of Kunanbai: "Kunanbai Oskenbaev: personality, history, phenomenon".

The conference was attended by descendants of the Kunanbai dynasty, representatives of the intelligentsia, heads of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scientists, experts from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan: Abai scholar Garifolla Yesim, writer and public figure Saparaly Beybit, etc.

The conference participants were greeted with a video message by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.

It is important to note that this significant event was held on the eve of the 90th anniversary of the university. For many years, scientists at Shakarim University have been studying the works of Abai, Mukhtar, Shakarim, who became spiritual mentors of the Kazakh people. All students are taught the course "The World of Abai", reflecting philosophical thoughts and promoting the moral and ethical standards of "Imanigul", "Tolyk Adam".
Doctor of Philology, Professor Arap Espenbetov, Abaiologist, Alashtanushi, Auezologist-scholar Tursyn Zhurtbay, Professor of Ankara University Haji Bayram Veli Bekir Somuncuoglu, who studies the Jadid movement in the countries of Central Asia, and scientist Islam Zhemeney, who studies the worldview of Islam and Eastern philosophy, made reports emphasizing the importance of preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Kazakhstan, where the name of Kunanbay symbolizes the understanding of how personal and social relationships influence the formation of cultural identity and national consciousness.

A presentation of the book “The Abai School and Leaders of Consciousness and Perception in Eastern History and Literature” by the scientist Islam Zhemenei, who was awarded the title of “Honorary Professor” of Shakarim University, took place here.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the memory of Kunanbay and his influence on Abai reflect the deep roots of the national spirit. This knowledge and respect for the historical context in which the personality of the Kazakh philosopher-thinker developed are necessary for understanding modern tasks and goals of national development.

The international conference dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the elder sultan continued at the Zhidebay-Borili museum-reserve.
