20 June, 2024

A cultural event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the Kazakh folk akyn Kenen Azerbayev took place at the Central State Museum. In order to popularize the composer’s work among the younger generation, the guests were children from the “Museum for kids” summer camp at the museum.

Students of the National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov and an ensemble of dombra players from the Sanat art school in Almaty introduced children to the work of the national poet, performing his famous works. The children were also told about the life and creative path of the akyn.

Kenen Azerbaev, Honored Artist and People's Akyn of the Kazakh SSR, zhyrau, kuyshi and public figure, was a student and follower of Zhambyl Zhabayev. Born at the end of the 19th century, thanks to his multifaceted talent, he became a chronicler of the 20th century and left behind a rich legacy. His works include ten dastans, over a hundred songs, more than a thousand poetic works, aitys, seven kuys and notes about outstanding personalities, which are invaluable historical data.

The event was held in an atmosphere of inspiration and creativity, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
