KAZINFORM—The Senate approved the law “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.”
The agreement was signed on October 17, 2023 in Beijing.
The purpose of the agreement is to promote the effective use of road, sea and railway modes of transport for the development of multimodal transport along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for the transportation of goods across the territories of the parties to the agreement.
The law provides for strengthening cooperation between departments and enterprises in the field of transport regulation, jointly creating a development environment to ensure stable and efficient operation of the transport route, optimizing logistics and transport operations, reducing transportation time, and improving the quality of transportation services provided.
The agreement makes it possible to increase the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and improve the further development of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and China.
In addition, the Senate approved the law “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, including container trains in the China-Europe direction.”
The agreement is aimed at cooperation between the parties in the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, integration of transport links, increasing transport efficiency, promoting trade, economic and industrial cooperation, as well as creating favorable conditions for the transportation of goods from China to Asia and through Asia to Europe.
The law provides for forecasting the annual potential volumes of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the exchange of data on tracking rolling stock, as well as the development of cooperation to increase export-import and transit transportation of container trains across the territories of the parties.
