The grand opening of the most prestigious international biology Olympiad among schoolchildren IBO-2024 took place in Astana. The event was attended by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gani Beisembayev, the Chairperson of the International Committee of the IBO Lenka Libusova and representatives of various departments. Addressing the participants, the head of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan Gani Beisembayev emphasized the importance of the event for the entire educational and educational sphere. The IBO was first held 34 years ago with the participation of representatives of six countries, and today the capital of Kazakhstan has gathered teams from 81 countries. 

"The strength of a person is in his thoughts and knowledge," said the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev. Looking at you, there is no doubt that these words are relevant today. Perhaps many of you will become famous biologists in the future and make great discoveries of the millennium. I am sure that this Olympiad will be an important stage for each of you in choosing a profession, achieving significant success for the benefit of world science, and your stay in Kazakhstan will give you unforgettable impressions of our traditions, hospitality and friendship. I wish each of you inspiration and great victories! ", - said the head of the relevant department.

The International Biology Olympiad is one of the TOP-7 international competitions among schoolchildren. This year, 305 young biologists and 275 scientists are taking part in it. Our schoolchildren have successfully represented the country for 28 years, winning more than 70 awards. This result served as a reason for holding the Olympiad in Astana. Participants can expect not only intellectual battles, but also excursions around the capital and the sights of the pearl of Kazakhstan - Borovoe, as well as events introducing the history and culture of our country.
