Leaders and students of the prestigious Chinese universities Nanjing University and Tsinghua University got acquainted with the NU campus, high-tech laboratories and met with the university management.
NU hosted a delegation from Nanjing University (NJU), one of China's prestigious universities founded in 1902. The meeting at NU opened new opportunities for international co-operation between the two leading universities.
A delegation led by Professor Tienyu Tang, Chairman of the Nanjing University Council and a world expert in artificial intelligence and image processing at NJU, visited the NU campus, and a discussion between scientists and researchers took place during the meeting. The two sides discussed potential areas for collaboration between the universities, from facilitating student and faculty exchange programmes to initiating joint research projects in areas of mutual interest.
Professor Tienyu Tan, Chairman of Nanjing University Council said, ‘I was very impressed with the facilities available on campus. The integration of advanced technology and resources supports both faculty and students in their pursuit of excellence. We look forward to future collaborations and the continued success of this outstanding institution.’
NU and NJU officials aim to establish a long-term partnership that will share knowledge across disciplines and enrich the educational and research experiences of students and faculty.
Also at NU, twelve students from Tsinghua University are participating in a research project. Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 in Beijing. And its strategy is to promote international co-operation. The students were given a campus tour of NU. The itinerary included an extensive tour of the campus and library, a visit to the electron microscopy science lab and an exciting video experience of space research in the Digital Yurt.
Liang Sheng, a PhD student at Tsinghua University in Beijing, shared his views on the university. ‘I really enjoyed my trip to NU. Not only did I gain valuable information about advances about environmental and chemical engineering research, but the NU campus itself is really impressive. The labs are incredibly well-equipped and the variety of classrooms provide the perfect environment for focused work,’ he said.
These visits have provided a bridge between researchers, facilitating international co-operation and knowledge sharing, which could potentially pave the way for effective future research partnerships between NU and other Chinese universities.
