As of 1 July 2024, 14,049 foreign nationals are working in Kazakhstan under permits of local executive bodies.
Among the permits to attract foreign labour force (hereinafter - FFL) there are the following categories: 576 permits for managers and their deputies (first category), 2,598 permits for heads of structural subdivisions (second category). The main part of the attracted labour force belongs to the third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories - 5,353 and 473 persons respectively. Also, 1,899 people were attracted for seasonal work, and 3,150 people were attracted as part of corporate transfers.
Currently, there are 1,796 employers in Kazakhstan using the IRS. They employ more than 436.1 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan, which is 96.8% of the total number of employees.
By type of economic activity, the largest number of employees work in the following spheres: construction - 4,397 people, agriculture, forestry and fishery - 1,897 people, administrative and auxiliary services - 1,592 people, mining and quarrying - 1,293 people, manufacturing - 1,252 people.
The main countries of origin of labour migrants are: China - 4,123 people, Uzbekistan - 1,968 people, Turkey - 1,152 people, India - 1,114 people.
Recall that in order to protect the domestic labour market, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually establishes and distributes a quota for attracting foreign specialists to the country. In 2024, the total quota is set at the rate of 0.23% of the labour force in the republic, or 22 thousand units.
